CMC ProTech Oval Carabiners

The ProTech Oval is CMC's non-locking carabiner and the unique features include the key-lock design for snag-free operation and a side-swing gate for maximum gate opening. The oval design places equal amounts of force on the spine and gate allowing the carabiner to maintain full rated strength regardless of the width of the web or rope clipped into it. The ProTech Oval is a good size to clip over the ropes coming out of a pulley to help push a Prusik Hitch. Non-locking carabiners provide a variety of utility functions such as racking equipment or as the "keeper" carabiner on a load-release strap or Mariner's knot. They are also used in critical climbing or rescue applications where a stuck gate must be avoided, but always used as pairs, rigged opposite and opposed.
